Capturing the view

The brief was to design a home on one level to be constructed on a sloped site. The architect had to make the most of the views to the south and the west.  An internal courtyard is flanked by entrance, bedroom and living room wings. The narrow width of the building allows for ample natural cross-ventilation to cool the building in summer. Large glazed sliding doors open the living room to the predominant view to the south. The view to the west is captured by a protected patio and from the raised courtyard. Landscaped terraces connect the grassed courtyard with the surrounding vegetation thereby anchoring the building in the landscape.
